High Tea and The Help
Art Encounters Preservation, Wentworth Coolidge Mansion State Park, Portsmouth NH
Every day at 4:00 PM Mr. and Mrs. Coolidge would hold tea in their parlor, sometimes outside amongst the lilacs. Their lifestyle and enjoyment of their estate would not have been possible without their “Girls” and “Boys,” as they were called. These fabric scrims call forth the lives of both the Coolidge family and their servants, “The Help,” who supported their lifestyle.
